The Most Beautiful Amalfi Coast Wedding Venues A Photographer's Guide
There are places in Italy where a wedding feels less like an event and more like a scene from a film. The Amalfi Coast is one of them: lemon groves clinging to the cliffs, pastel villages tumbling toward the sea, and a light that turns every face golden in the last hour of the day.
As an Italy destination wedding photographer, I am often asked by couples from all over the world where to get married on the Amalfi Coast. The honest answer is that the right venue depends on the story you want to tell an intimate ceremony above Positano, a candlelit dinner among marble statues in Ravello, or a long, sunlit celebration by an infinity pool.
In this guide I've gathered ten Amalfi Coast wedding venues I love, from Ravello and Amalfi to Praiano, Positano, Sorrento and Capri. For each one you'll find what makes it special, who it suits best, and my photographer's notes on light and timing.
In this guide: Villa Cimbrone (Ravello) · Hotel Caruso (Ravello) · Anantara Convento di Amalfi (Amalfi) · Casa Angelina (Praiano) · Capri Palace (Anacapri) · Villa Astor, Sorrento - Villa Eva (Ravello) - Il giardino di fluenti (Vietri sul mare) - Villa Treville (Positano) - Villa Oliviero (Positano)
Villa Cimbrone, Ravello A Wedding on the Terrace of Infinity
High above the sea, Villa Cimbrone's Terrace of Infinity is one of the most romantic places in all of Italy. A row of marble busts looks out over the Gulf of Salerno, and at dusk the sky melts into soft shades of peach and lavender behind them.
It is the perfect setting for an intimate dinner: a long table dressed in white linen, garden roses, silver chargers and tall candles, with the whole coastline as your backdrop. The villa's gardens, temples and shaded avenues offer endless corners for portraits.
Best for: intimate luxury weddings and candlelit dinners.
Photographer's note: plan the dinner so guests are seated twenty minutes before sunset. The pastel blue hour that follows is pure magic on film.
Hotel Caruso, Ravello Timeless Elegance Above the Clouds
Hotel Caruso sits on Ravello's hilltop like a private palace, and its infinity pool seems to pour straight into the valley toward Minori and Maiori. Wisteria pergolas, striped parasols and sweeping views make every frame feel effortlessly editorial.
Couples choose it for the sense of seclusion: a historic residence, lush gardens and terraces suspended between sky and sea, all a short walk from Ravello's piazza and cathedral.
Best for: luxury destination weddings with a multi-day celebration.
Photographer's note: spring is spectacular here, when the wisteria is in bloom. Morning light over the valley is ideal for the welcome brunch or a quiet first look.
Anantara Convento di Amalfi Romance in a Former Monastery
Carved into the cliff above Amalfi, this former monastery combines centuries of history with breathtaking views. Its restaurant terrace looks directly over the town's white houses, the harbour and the coastline fading toward the horizon.
The cloister, the gardens and the clifftop walkways create a natural journey through the day: ceremony, aperitivo, dinner under warm lamplight while the sky turns pink.
Best for: couples who want history, privacy and the heart of Amalfi at their feet.
Photographer's note: the terrace faces the town and the sea at sunset. I love to photograph couples here just as the lamps are switched on, when warm and cool light meet.
Casa Angelina, Praiano Contemporary Luxury in White
Casa Angelina is the Amalfi Coast seen through a modern eye: all-white architecture, clean lines and terraced gardens that cascade toward a deep blue sea, with Positano glittering in the distance.
It is the ideal choice for couples with a minimalist, fashion-forward aesthetic. The white walls act like a giant reflector, giving a soft, luminous light to portraits even in the middle of the day.
Best for: modern, design-led and editorial weddings.
Photographer's note: the view toward Positano is at its most beautiful in late afternoon, when the village catches the warm light.
Capri Palace, Anacapri Island Glamour
Just across the water from the coast, Anacapri offers a quieter, more refined side of Capri. Here, a sunny pool framed by scalloped yellow parasols, umbrella pines and white arched terraces captures the timeless glamour of the island.
A Capri wedding is perfect for couples who dream of a celebration with a dolce vita spirit: a welcome party by the pool, a ceremony in the gardens, a dinner under the stars.
Best for: glamorous weddings and multi-day celebrations on the island.
Photographer's note: Anacapri is higher and calmer than Capri town, which means fewer crowds and more freedom for relaxed couple portraits.
Villa Astor, Sorrento Arches Framing Vesuvius
On the Sorrento coast, Villa Astor is pure poetry. Ancient stone arches and marble columns frame the Gulf of Naples and Mount Vesuvius, while cypresses, vines and statues fill a garden that feels lost in time.
It is a dream for couples who love history, classical architecture and a setting that feels truly Italian in every detail.
Best for: romantic, classic weddings with a strong sense of place.
Photographer's note: the arches are a natural frame. A portrait of the two of you between the columns, with Vesuvius behind, is a picture you'll keep forever.
Villa Eva, Ravello A Secret Garden Above the Sea
Hidden among the gardens of Ravello, Villa Eva is one of the most romantic wedding venues on the Amalfi Coast. Soft green lawns, centuries-old trees and an ivy-covered pergola create a secret-garden atmosphere, with the sea and the coastline just beyond.
Here the ceremony can take place on the grass among white lanterns, gypsophila and pastel roses, before guests move under the green pergola for a long, elegant dinner. It is rare to find so much open garden space on the coast, and it gives the whole day a relaxed, fairytale feel.
Best for: garden ceremonies, long al fresco dinners and couples who love a romantic, natural setting.
Photographer's note: the shade of the tall trees is a blessing in summer, with even, flattering light on faces at any hour. The lawn and lanterns are beautiful for detail shots before guests arrive.
Il Giardino di Fuenti, Vietri sul Mare A Mediterranean Garden on the Sea
At the eastern gateway of the Amalfi Coast, between Vietri sul Mare and Cetara, Il Giardino di Fuenti is a garden suspended above the sea. Terraces of lawns, flowers and Mediterranean plants descend toward the water, with views that stretch across the Gulf of Salerno.
It is a venue made for large, joyful celebrations: a ceremony among the flowers, an aperitivo on the terraces and a dinner under the open sky, with the coastline lighting up as night falls. Its position, close to Salerno and easy to reach, makes it a practical choice for weddings with many guests travelling from abroad.
Best for: garden weddings with a larger guest list and couples who want space, colour and sea views.
Photographer's note: the terraces create natural levels for wide, editorial shots of the whole celebration. The last hour of light over the gulf is perfect for couple portraits among the flowers.
Villa Treville, Positano Where Lemons Meet the Sea
Perched on the cliffs just outside Positano, Villa Treville was once the private retreat of film director Franco Zeffirelli, and it still has the soul of a cinematic hideaway. Lemon trees, an old olive tree and a pool open onto the sea, with Positano on one side and the Li Galli islands floating on the horizon.
Gardens, terraces and hidden corners unfold along the cliff, so the whole wedding can happen in one magical place: getting ready, a poolside aperitivo, a ceremony overlooking the water and dinner under the stars.
Best for: intimate luxury weddings and couples who want privacy with an iconic Positano view.
Photographer's note: getting-ready photos with the sea in the background are among my favourite images of the day. Late-afternoon light on Positano and the islands makes every portrait feel like a film still.
Villa Oliviero, Positano A Clifftop Family Villa Above the Sea
Perched on a rocky spur high above Positano, Villa Oliviero feels like your own private home on the Amalfi Coast. For generations it has belonged to the same family, and that sense of warmth is still part of every celebration held here.
The villa spreads over three levels of terraces, gardens and rooms, so the day can move naturally from one space to the next: a ceremony by the pool with the coastline behind you, cocktails in the garden, dinner on the terrace as the sun sets over the sea. Guests can even stay at the villa, which makes it perfect for an intimate wedding weekend with your closest family and friends.
Best for: intimate weddings and couples who want the privacy of a villa with the polish of a luxury hotel.
Photographer's note: the different levels give me beautiful high angles over the pool and the sea. Sunset from the terraces is spectacular, and Positano's little streets are just a short walk away for portraits.
Planning Your Amalfi Coast Wedding
The best months for an Amalfi Coast wedding are May, June and September: warm days, long golden evenings and fewer crowds than in high summer. Many venues have limited dates and strict timings, so it's wise to book your venue and photographer twelve to eighteen months in advance.
Whatever venue you choose, the coast rewards couples who leave room for the unexpected: a walk through the lemon groves, a quiet moment on a terrace, the first light on the sea the morning after.
